The Nutcracker…

The Grove Theatre in Dunstable England

The Grove Theatre in Dunstable England

It was a wonderful evening of entertainment at The Grove Theatre Dunstable England; when Marilyn and myself attended The Russian State Ballet Academy of Perm performance of ‘The Nutcracker’ recently.

The Christmas story is based on “The Nutcracker and The King of Mice” written by E.T.A. Hoffmann. It tells the story of Marie, a rather sad little girl, whose godfather Drosselmeier gives her a nutcracker as a present on Christmas Eve. It turns into a prince who invites her on a journey into the Sugar Plum Fairy’s Land of Sweets. Marie celebrates with a sumptuous party together with her godfather and the nutcracker prince.

Strictly Murder!

The Grove Theatre

The Grove Theatre

Nic Barclay as Peter Meredith was compelling watching in Brian Clemens ‘Strictly Murder’ at The Grove Theatre Dunstable recently, and Katie Funk was somewhat dramatic as Peter’s wife Suzy Hinchcliffe. The Half Wit Josef was full of reaction and enacted by David Rumelle. whilst Ross was played with a masterful upper class accent by Mark Moraghan, and Jasmine Darke gave a wonderful tweedy Hattie Jacques ’take-on’ in the character of Miriam Miller. The production was by Bruce James… You see, you don’t have to sit in front of Eastenders every night! Live Theatre is still alive… and kicking!

The Grove

Marilyn has booked us excellent seats for The Grove Theatre’s forthcoming presentations of ‘Aida’ ‘Tarandot’ and ‘Swan Lake’ so it’s time for a carton of Kiora-orange, a lolly, and a bag of popcorn! No rocking in the back seats though please.
