Enid Stamp Taylor... And friends!
Enid and two cherished companions on holiday at Portmeirion North Wales in the August of 1937. The holiday village of Portmeirion was the setting for the famous TV series of ‘The Prisoner’ starring Patrick McGoohan. Enid is pictured snapped by family members ‘The Poritts’… The architect Clough Williams-Ellis was the brainchild behind ‘Portmeirion’ – the Italianate village known as ‘The Xanadu of Wales’… and it’s likely he was a friend to Enid.
A very tight absorbing little screenplay from Butcher Films, set in and around Brighton Sussex. It features Peter Vaughan and John Carson as two Insurance men on the trail of a clever deception… also includes some wonderful moments from Derick (Korky) Guyler, David Gregory and Romo Gorrara.
‘Night of the Eagle’… Independent Artists. Peter Wyngarde and Janet Blair. This is a very tight, compelling, and frightening story of witchcraft, with Peter Wyngarde at his very best! The beach at night and the subsequent crypt scene is particularly unnerving! This was a classy production with a dramatic conclusion.
The Dramatic Stairway of St.Pancras Railway Station
Robert Morey is deep and dark with this period evoking stairway shot inside the famous North London Victorian Railway Station of St. Pancras. Built in 1868 as The Midland Grand Hotel and Railway Station it served travellers to and from The East Midlands and Yorkshire. It’s a beautiful vision of Victorian gothic architecture. During the 2000s it was renovated and given a new lease of life as a terminal area for Eurostar Trains to Europe.
‘The Night Caller’… Armitage Films. Still, after all this time, has some very scary moments! The title shot of The Thames is evocative! It features John Saxon (later to work in the US),Maurice Denham, and Patricia Haynes – I fell in love with her!… I just adore tall beautiful women… Later she appears in a ‘TV Steptoe’ Also has David Gregory and Romo Gorrara – two favorites of mine…Romo went on as a stunt actor – both established hands from many a Butcher Film! And of course the velvet soft tones of John Carson lend an air of quiet authority. (John retired to South Africa after many British Film appearances) Very decisive is the performance of Alfred Burke, who from 1965-1975 became a household name as Frank Marker in the popular TV series of Public Eye… Alfred is still with us… at the golden age of 92!

The National Provincial Bank of England
Robert Morey continues his travels around London and this time highlights The National Provincial Bank of England at Bishopsgate in The City of London. This Historic British commercial bank operated in England and Wales from 1833 until its merger into The National Westminster Bank in 1970. In 1833 The Bank of England had exclusive statutory power to issue banknotes within a 65 mile radius of London, so therefore ‘The Provincial’ opened a number of branches to circulate currency in the towns and villages.
Taking to the shade in St. Albans.
Sweltering Heat! Greeted Marilyn and I on Saturday when we made a visit to St. Albans, Hertfordshire. The grand heights of St. Albans Cathedral looked out over its parkland lake and a myriad of wild fowl, whilst couples took to the shade in the soaring heat of this British summer!
Ok, before this summer is out! A number of Adrian’s ‘Uni-Friends’ wanted to see the shot I took of him on Graduation Day from Bedfordshire University… and I guess Jessy does too! Adrian works as a website designer for many of our leading retailers including Marks & Spencer, Asda, and JB Sports!
